The news that several Congress MLAs are joining the BJP has come as a shock to people in Goa as this constitutes a breach of the mandate given to these Congress MLAs.
This move by the Congress MLAs has to be condemned in no uncertain terms. It is a betrayal of the mandate of the people to cross over to a party that has done very little for the cause of Goans. They cannot ascribe the lame excuse that development has to be done in their constituencies as it is the duty of the government to treat all constituencies by the same yardstick. The BJP has to be condemned for luring MLAs with enticements as this is a clear infringement of the Constitution and amounts to practices that has to be condemned by one and all. If this is the attitude of the MLAs, then the people of Goa have to reject them in the coming Lok Sabba elections. At least the South Goa seat can still be won by the Congress if the people of Goa are firm and united against the betrayal of MLAs.
