During my recent travels, I was appalled to see the condition of the Mahabaleshwar bus station. Signs of seepage, dampness and moss were visible on the ceiling, and some of the structural column capitals had exposed reinforcement bars.
Neglect of regular maintenance was quite obvious. The terminus is a danger to the thousands of passengers who use it daily. This is the case with most of the state road transport bus termini.
All this talk of ‘Viksit Bharat’ is just that “ talk. With such crumbling infrastructure, sinking roads and collapsing bridges, we are reinforcing our credentials as a third-world nation. So much for patting our own backs and anointing ourselves as Vishwaguru.
