I wish to bring to your attention to the serious public safety issue in Margao city concerning the cut-off cables hanging from electric poles and carelessly thrown on the roadside. These discarded cables not only pose a danger to pedestrians and motorcyclists but also create hazardous working conditions for linemen who maintain high-tension wires. It is unclear who holds the responsibility for clearing these cables ” whether it is the electricity department, cable owners, or the municipal authorities. Unfortunately, this negligence has resulted in a persistent menace that compromises public safety and the efficiency of essential maintenance work. The tangled mass of WiFi and private cables obstructs linemen, increasing the risk of accidents and electric shocks during routine operations. I urge the government, the electricity department, the municipality, and all concerned stakeholders to collaborate and devise a clear, effective plan to manage and remove these cut cables promptly. Ensuring safety must be a top priority, and the city should be kept clean and orderly to reflect the aspirations of its citizens.
