I would like to highlight a pressing concern that affects our environment: the rampant littering of waste, primarily due to packaging. Chips, cold drinks, and most notably, carry bags, are the main culprits. Wherever we spot litter, it's often wrapped in plastic carry bags. Penalize people spotted using plastic carry bags. I've spoken to several shopkeepers about the ban on plastic bags, and their response is telling. They claim that the ban is superficial, and they're hesitant to lose customers. They also point out that if the government is really serious about the ban, it should de-register companies manufacturing plastic carry bags, similar to how it could address pan masala manufacturers. However, the onus also lies with the end user to understand the repercussions of plastic pollution. Despite suffering from sickness and natural calamities linked to plastic pollution, people continue to consume products wrapped in plastic. Awareness campaigns alone are insufficient; stricter enforcement and collective responsibility are essential to mitigate this issue.
