The proposal for an aero sports project at Quitol may sound enticing, with scope for development, reservations for local employment, etc., etc. All very well; however, have they given any thought to the impact on the environment and the ecosystem in the region and the surrounding areas? There will be a whole lot of construction coming up there, which is bound to disturb the region.
And we have seen the consequences of infrastructure and other development projects in the country, and how the livelihood of locals has been affected. Are we not going to draw any lessons from such projects? At the end of the day, life itself would be at stake. And so, one is tempted to ask: development for whom?
