Goans seem to still live in the 20th century as our susegado attitude and lack of discipline are some factors responsible for this invited tragedy at Lairai zatra at Shirgao. The stalls should be at least 1-2 km away from the ceremonial route and two barricaded queues, one for movement of dhonds and the other for devotees should be erected to avoid such calamity in future. Government should take initiative to instill proper discipline as temple committee has its own work. We Hindus are yet to learn many things as I have seen indiscipline in most of the temples. I am not casting aspersion on any community but am just trying to highlight the tragic outcome of about more than 1 lakh people running in same direction without any control.
