Down the years, the new academic year in Goa used to always start in June. The final exams were in the month of March and the vacation break in April and May. These two months are very important for school going children because summer vacation break for our children meant drawing up plans for children to go out of station with their parents, some children would have plans to join summer camps and learn various activities, etc. And as the temperature rises it becomes very difficult for our young children to face this heat. I humbly request our Goa education department and ministers in power to realise the problems our young children are going to face and not abruptly change and bring forward the start of the school year to April. Children also have rights over their summer vacation and recreation break.
