The government plans on givong incentives to the first 10,000 e-bikes purchased in the state. The e-bike can be used to attract tourists. Taxis are very expensive and tourists generally don’t use buses. Many tourists opt for Goa’s unique rental bikes. Hence the roads are full of these mean machines polluting the environment and causing mayhem on the roads. The government should offer e-bikes to the marginalised people at low rates of interest, provided the bikes are used for renting to tourists. The poor will earn some much needed extra income, the environment will benefit and tourism will get a boost.
