The Education Department's order forcing permanent primary teachers having BEd qualification to compulsorily undergo DEd or face retrenchment is most despicable. This is primarily targeted to prevent primary teachers' claim for promotions as the rule requires to consider them first to fill a vacancy. This is unfair and is being done by vested interests. Instead, the department could have easily taken a voluntary declaration from these teachers not to claim promotions. Why unnecessarily burden them with more studies.
