It is indeed regrettable that not a single of the four main parties contesting elections, has avoided putting up tainted people as their candidates, giving the impression that Goa is bereft of upright candidates.
Yes, indeed, the truth is that there is dearth of good candidates willing to contest elections. In Panjim, BJP has denied ticket to Utpal on the pretext that the fact that he is Manohar Parrikar’s son should not entitle him to the ticket.
I wonder why then, was he offered a ticket in Bicholim and how the wife of Health Minister’s gets entitled to a ticket.
Tickets to Mr & Mrs Monserrate and Mr & Mrs Rane were surely not given out of love, but of fear.
Utpal needs to realise how deeply BJP is entrenched in suspicious deals that it had no hesitation in favouring the Frankenstein, Parrikar created, against a more honourable man. This Frankenstein, after demanding and getting the lucrative TCP portfolio, was instrumental in dethroning your father’s Government.
Keeping my commitment of De mortuis nisi bonum, (speak only well of the dead) I will not delve on the attempts to dethrone the subsequent Congress government, with the help of the same man.
However, I cannot but remind, Utpal, that Pramod Sawant, referring to BJP’s present Panjim candidate had ridiculed Congress, at his last election, for having put up such a tainted candidate with all possible charges against him…Do we need anything else to judge the bankruptcy of BJP?
