No Goan must have expected this swift paradigm shift to adjust in just over a decade and a half with a self-development governance by those in power; it is like walking in the dark without any means of light. Goans must have never dreamt that they would have to suffer such an unprecedented living in their motherland, where doors were once left open, bicycles unlocked, and fallen mangoes, coconuts, and even dry fallen palm leaves just left unattended ” not anymore. Today we have to develop a strong, authentic sense of self by practicing introspection, upholding our personal values, and being honest about our own shortcomings, which foster empathy for others. Some selfish hypocrites only look after their own growth ” either by accumulating illicit wealth or fooling the innocent Goans on developing the villages. Yes, most Goans always strive to consistently be true, rather than adopting different personas to fit in with diplomacy to make one feel happy, sticking to our beliefs and principles, developing empathy and self-awareness, and recognizing imperfections rather than adopting the derailed, hypocritical, poorly disgraced society that we Goans are pushed into helplessly.
