Government relaxes sound restrictions for festivals, including Easter. This headline splashed across all local media channels on April 3”Good Friday in Goa. But why? Has the government done a favour for the Christian community by relaxing sound limits, especially for this year’s Easter? Or does it assume that Christians celebrate Easter by blasting loud EDM and trance music outside churches until the early hours?

In reality, this move seems aimed at helping non-Goan nightclub owners keep hosting all-night EDM and rave parties during major Christian festivals, disturbing residents along Goa’s coastal belt. Has the government relaxed sound restrictions for Goan weddings in Goa? If not, then who exactly is this “good news” for?
