Hats off to HC judges for inspecting Smart City work

This is with reference to the news report ' Dust, dug up roads: HC judges take stock of Smart City mess' (TGE, Apr 2). Although it seems a bit too late in the day to inspect the dirtied 'Augean stables', the high court judges need to be applauded for the initiative and time taken off from their busy work schedule to inspect the highly dust-polluted city of Panaji and sub-standard works of the Smart City project in Panaji. Things might have been different had we made it mandatory for periodic inspection by a court of law for works executed in projects of this nature , before certifying the bills of contractors. Instead, what we have been witnessing, is unnecessary interference by politicians which has muddied the waters and turned the capital city of Panaji into a 'war zone' --- a term, used by the court earlier.
