Illegal construction on Sernabatim beach


The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority rules prohibit any construction from taking place within 200 meters of the high tide line (no development zone) in areas under CRZ-3.

But there is a two-storeyed structure on the Benaulim-Sernabatim beach stretch that has been built in contravention of extant rules. 

It is being let out as a sea view cottage by the owners. Would the authorities take cognizance of this illegal structure and deal with it as they have dealt with Lala ki Basti in Tivim?

Avoid concretisation of footpaths

Footpaths are constructed of tiles, stones and pavers of various shapes and sizes. All these are fixed by means of sand and cement and these construction materials absorb sunlight that results in an increase in heat radiation to the surroundings. Moreover, there are no conduits for the rainwater to percolate.
