At an event in Ponda, CM Pramod Sawant praised a right-wing group for promoting Sanatan Dharma and attracting spiritual tourism to Goa. This group, however, has faced serious allegations, including a 2009 bomb plot in Margao involving its followers. Despite the CM’s claims, many Goans question the group’s role in Goa’s spiritual landscape, pointing instead to rising issues like drugs, crime, and unruly tourist behaviour. Critics argue that glorifying such groups only deepens social divides and threatens communal harmony, especially when they promote divisive narratives under the guise of religious or cultural work.
