Three delegations consisting of several politicians, cutting across parties are headed to different countries as a part of the outreach post-Operation Sindoor. The delegates have been briefed by India’s foreign secretary and the delegates will apprise India’s ‘new normal’ approach to Pakistan’s use of terrorism. The delegates will also justify India’s decision to pause the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). As per reports, the Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal welcomed this initiative by the Centre. He recalled a similar exercise taken after the massacre in Mumbai by terrorists on November 26, 2008 when delegations were sent to the US, Europe and South Africa to expose Pakistan as a “factory of terrorists.” The above facts bring to the fore the important points as to why should India justify her military actions to the other countries (that may or may not be interested) and discuss her rethink of the IWT? If at all India wanted to showcase her problems, a couple of representatives from each country and their ambassadors could have been invited and be presented with our findings. Alternatively, an on-line meeting could have been arranged instead of spending crores of rupees on the delegates.
