As the resolution of the US-Iran war continues through negotiations, Israel is busy consolidating its territorial gains in Gaza and Lebanon with an eye to the future. There were newspaper reports the other day that Israel now controls 70% of Gaza. There have also been reports of trouble between the new Israeli settlers and local Palestinians with the settlers attacking the locals for no rhyme or reason. The strategy of Israel in Lebanon is to create a buffer zone with its borders with Lebanon by taking over villages. With this objective in mind it has over the last few days taken over Fort Beaufort, an ancient strategic fort, some 3 km. inside Lebanon. All this is being done by Israel under the cover of ceasefire talks it is engaging with Lebanon. There should be some method to restrain Israel expand its territory by nefarious means. The world has to sit up and take notice. An Arab leader on the recent initiative by Donald Trump to get Arab countries to recognise Israel has said - As long as Israel exists, there will be no peace in the Middle East.
