Lairai zatra infra has to adequately managed

The fact-finding investigation team under Sandip Jacques has submitted its report to the state on stampede at Lairai zatra on early morning  of May 3.The report has held every authority responsible for the same and has blamed temple committee, police force, district magistrate and 'dhonds' misbehaviour who participated in the zatra. The zatra is held every year and number of 'dhonds' is increasing every year but infrastructure remains same. However last year one lady died and the same was not taken seriously by the committee members and concerned authorities. In Goa we had Exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier and on an average two lakhs visited the site everyday and the arrangement was well planned.  There are other festivals too like "Gulal " at Lord Damodar temple, Zambaulim, Devi Shantadurga at Fatorpa and many others where devotees flock in large numbers. The said events are managed by temple committee with the help of local authorities and police force.  The Lairai zatra should follow strict guidelines and rules and regulations to ensure smooth flow of devotees.
