Land resurvey of Goa must be completed

The government ordered a state-wide resurvey in 2004, but nearly half the villages still lack notified survey plans. Only Mormugao, Tiswadi, Ponda, and Bardez have completed notifications. The resurvey, conducted by a private company, cost Rs 7.87 crore, and physical survey work is done across all 12 talukas. Yet, the department has not issued the resurvey plans to the public.

Are the plans inaccurate? Do they contain errors? Have houses been assigned wrong survey numbers? Are roads misaligned with existing structures? If the plans are flawed, the government must acknowledge and address these issues.

Transparency is crucial. The resurvey must be completed, and plans should be made public. How can nearly Rs 8 crore of public money go to waste? At the very least, the plans should be available on the government website. The private company must be held accountable for its work, and the government must take action to resolve the issue without further delay.
