The recent sermon in the church by Fr Bolmax Pereira in connection with his remark on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has created tension. Previously. Subhash Velingkar of RSS has said that St Francis Xavier should not be called as 'Goencho saib', when many trust and believe in him. Who is he to hurt a community's religious sentiment? Everyone is free to believe in their own God, we should not interfere in another's religion. Catholic priests should spread the word of God, Jesus in their sermons and not interfere with other's beliefs. Hindu groups gathering at Vasco police station and Catholics gathering in hundreds at Chicalim church will not solve the issue. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great Maratha warrior and a national hero. We should come out in our thousands when Goa is in trouble to save and protect it from the hands of corrupt politicians. I appeal to our Hindu and Christian brothers and sisters to live peacefully respecting all religions and festivals.
