This is with regards to "Not sure if people will accept Sawant's face in 2022 polls" (The Goan Everyday November 21, 2021).
As Goa assembly elections in early 2022 draw closer, Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo's restlessness is increasing. His recent statements leave no one in doubt that Lobo and his BJP bosses do not see eye to eye. Lobo is acting like a leader of the opposition. He has the audacity to say that he has no idea whether the sitting chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant's face in the upcoming elections will be acceptable to the voter. These types of statements cause more harm than good ahead of elections. They also demonstrate the level of resentment that has found its way into the poll battle-ready ruling party.
Pramod Sawant and Goa BJP President should read out the riot act to such rebels without cause within the rank and file of their party. Lobo should also exercise caution before making such public statements. If he does not mend his ways, Lobo will find it difficult to gain entry into the rival parties. Parties do not want trouble makers. They want solution givers to bolster their chances in 2022.
