It is reassuring to see locals (in their mid-50s and above) who are vocal and deeply concerned about corruption, pollution, hill cutting, unwanted infrastructure, land filling and grabbing, double-tracking by railways, coal transport and other critical issues. The locals (below 50 years) are not so-vocal against “rowdy-tourism” which is atrocities committed by tourists who rough up the locals, create ruckus in shacks and restaurants, drive and ride vehicles on the beaches, drunken driving, eve teasing, not returning or returning a damaged rent-a-cab or two-wheeler and other serious issues. Tolerance has a limit and the locals need to maintain their dignity in the face of rude attitude by unruly tourists.
