Many questions remain over Colva’s garbage collection

While there is some progress in the periodic collection of dry waste at Colva, there is still a very serious shortcoming. However, there is no clarity on the collection of diapers, sanitary pads and some other items. Garbage bags with these items are left behind by the garbage collectors.  

So the questions to the Colva Panchayat are: 1. What should Colvenkars do with this waste -- burn it and pollute the air? 2. Bury it and pollute the soil/groundwater? 3. Throw it on the roadside/fields or just anywhere? If we are still not fulfilling the basic standards of garbage collection, why are construction licences for mega dwelling units still being given? Lastly, is this type of incomplete garbage collection the case in other village panchayats as well?

There is no justification for anti-conversion bill

The Karnataka state assembly has passed a new anti-conversion legislation called the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021. It appears that the minority communities are being unnecessarily hassled. Is this law passed in Karnataka justified?
