Monitoring work near Chandor railway station essential

Monitoring work near Chandor railway station essential

It is true that the district magistrate, office of the collector South Goa has given permission to the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for the double tracking project  for transportation of heavy vehicles with materials, sand, mud, cement, rail, etc through the Chandor roads from Sanvordem, Assolda, Chandor, Guridolim and Margao. Having a permission order from the collector's office does not mean that the trucks carrying the different types of materials have to break the rules and regulations which is marked on the Collector's order.

The truck drivers are driving at full speed, no proper number plates, mud not covered by a covering and there is no one to monitor them as written on the order and no one is following the rules and regulations written on the order papers. Are the safety rules and regulations only for namesake and not for action against the law breakers? There is competition among the truck drivers as the more trips they make, the more money they will get which puts the common man's life at risk. Police are very slow to respond and after the traffic jams they come on the site that too if someone calls them. Constables don't have any powers as they are helpless.  Due to ongoing work near the Chandor Railway Station, the police constables are suffering from dust problems. The fine mud has fallen on the roads near the Chandor Railway crossing and when it mixes with water fallen from tankers it becomes slippery causing many two-wheeler accidents. The Railway contractor should immediately clear the mud fallen on the road near the Chandor Railway crossing for the safety of public. The construction for railways which is next to the Railway Gate crossing is dangerous because it is built without cutting the old tree branches which can damage the building and can injure the people working there specially during heavy rain and storms. Wooden blocks are kept on the sides of the  railway tracks on the railway crossing gate which is dangerous to road users. Work is going on near the Chandor Railway crossing and station and there is no one to monitor it.

I request the government of Goa, railway authority, transport department and the police outpost Chandor, Guridolim village Panchayat office to look into this matter for the safety of the public as soon as possible.
