New US visa policies to have worldwide impact

After taking office on January 20, President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing cabinet members to list countries for visa bans by March 21.

These nations were deemed threats to US security or accused of misusing immigration laws. After his re-election, Trump intensified restrictions, planning bans on citizens from 41 countries, including Pakistan, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.

Countries are categorized into three lists: Red (complete ban), Orange (partial ban), and Yellow (conditional ban). Yellow-listed nations have 60 days to address U.S. concerns or face restrictions. During his first term, Trump had already banned visas from seven Muslim-majority countries”Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Iran, Iraq, Libya, and Yemen”a decision upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court despite widespread condemnation.

Many Muslim nations and human rights groups criticized the bans as "cruel." These new restrictions make US entry increasingly difficult, shaping a future where travel to America remains out of reach for many.
