After massive fire incident claiming 25 lives at Birch by Romeo Lane by lane last month still illegal structures continue to operate. Over 100 nightclubs were shut down for illegal operations. The nightclub Bastian Riviera, Morjim co-owned by actress Shilpa Shetty is still in place inspite of demolition order. The local fishermen at Morjim had complained against the said nightclub which was given order in month of October last year but the owner denied receiving notice which is again kept for reply on January 8. The local MLA on one hand blamed Panchayat and secretary for giving permission to Birch by Romeo lane and on other hand says he discussed the issue with CM. Both sarpanch and secretary went missing after they were summoned. The nightclubs in Goa have operated till December 31 amid New Year celebrations. Despite no proper licence and permission from govt authority the clubs continue to operate. The action taken is biased and high profile individuals go scot free sans legal action. The law should be fair to all and Bastian Riviera, Morjim should be banned from operation.
