Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, while speaking at a training programme organised by a district and development agency in collaboration with Flipkart, a private agency, stated that the Goa government is implementing schemes to empower Goan women, to make them self-reliant and lakhpatis. For this, the government has teamed up with Flipkart to sell products made by women artisans on Flipkart’s online marketplace. A very ambitious scheme indeed, by any reckoning. By that time, there will hopefully be no need for various welfare schemes for women, such as the Ladli Lakshmi and Ladli Bahin, and with around 5,000 jobs in Goa waiting to be filled by the youth, Goa will then be the most prosperous state in the country, I guess.
