Rahul’s ‘yatra' giving sleepless nights to BJP

On Monday, a group of BJP leaders and their loyal supporters marched to the Congress House in Panaji, where they allegedly threw ink on its signboard. The act was a protest against supposed derogatory remarks by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

But isn’t it ironic? Many BJP leaders, including Modi himself, have frequently targeted Sonia Gandhi and the Gandhi family with sharp and often insulting comments during rallies across India.

So why the sudden outrage? The answer lies in the growing traction Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra is receiving in Bihar and beyond. BJP leaders, rattled by the response, appear to be manufacturing controversies to divert attention.

Resorting to vandalism, like throwing ink, hardly reflects political maturity. Local BJP leaders who indulge in such uncivilised protests have no moral right to demand an apology from Rahul Gandhi or lecture him on values and culture. Especially when their own party continues to protect and promote tainted figures, even giving some ministerial positions in Goa.
