Ration shop distributors not getting fair price to run them

The Budget session of Goa assembly started on March 27 and on the second day there was a point raised in the house on fair price shops run all over Goa. As per statistics there are more than 400 such shops that distribute rice and wheat to the ration card holders. However the fair price shop owners or distributors are not getting fair price from the government to run the same. The fair price shop has rent, electricity bills, staff and transport charges to bear. But such expenses are not given to them for last 3 years and also during Covid-19 they were suppose to get some amount which is pending. As per ministers who raised the issue fair price shops hardly get any profit from this shop and in order to avoid losses they are forced to stop distribution and accumulate the stock. It's time for the government to increase the maintenance charges given to fair price shops for running their shops.
