This is with reference to the report, "Cops track parents from hospital's delivery tag on abandoned baby - The Goan Everyday - December 28, 2023." That was definitely a heartbreaking piece of news of a new born baby abandoned on the streets and that too on Christmas Day. It is difficult to understand what could have led the parents of that innocent child to take such a drastic step. There are so many couples unable to conceive a child of their own and here we find parents abandoning a new born child, flesh of their flesh & blood of their blood. And it is heartbreaking to read such news on the day of the feast of the Holy Innocents when we remember the mass killing of children by Herod when Jesus was born. Our hearts go out to the innocent children being killed on account of mindless wars around the world. We must keep them in our prayers. We need to understand that children are a gift from God and it is our responsibility to raise them up in the right manner.
