The authorities were thundering about falling standards in private schools. No wonder government primary schools are closing every other day. Secondary and government colleges are crying for strength. Even the poorest of poor seek admissions in private schools bearing the heavy burden of fees. It was a worst gamble with teachers on contract and lecture basis. It has played havoc on quality of education and commitment. The government schools can run for months without teachers and none is bothered. Now the government does not ok sanctioned permanent posts for months and even a year. Even the Headmaster's post is vacant and so too the other supporting staff. This situation is akin to deliberate strangulation of the quality of education in Goa. The schools resorting to patch up situation only degrades the standards. The Minister of Education cannot allow this situation to fester. The economic measures, if any cannot apply to grant of teachers as per absolute need. It is absurd and ridiculous that schools have to function without teachers. It is time that MLAs raise their voices on these issues so that students must not be allowed to suffer.
