The recent victory is truly a proud moment for the people of Goa, and a special salute is due to the resilient villagers of Chimbel who stood their ground with an unwavering spirit during their 44 days hunger strike against the government project of Unity Mall. The power and unity displayed by the people of Chimbel is an inspiring example for other villages across Goa to hold the government accountable whenever it acts against the will of its citizens or pursues greed over the welfare of the people. We, the people of Goa, want our state to remain as it is”peaceful, prosperous, and true to its roots. We elect our leaders to provide us with basic necessities and to serve the public interest, but instead, many times, they choose to impose unnecessary taxes and policies that burden the common man. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who stood in solidarity with the villagers of Chimbel and supported them during their difficult struggle. Their courage and determination have shown us that collective action can bring about change and that the voice of the people cannot be ignored.
