St Xavier’s feast: Don’t reserve seats for politicos

The feast of St Francis Xavier will be celebrated on December 3. It is a tradition that the front row seats during the feast mass are reserved for ministers and MLAs.

But this time the church authorities and our Archbishop need to take a firm stand not to reserve any seats for politicians in view no action from the government regarding the illegal structure in the heritage precincts.

It is almost a week that the satyagraha has commenced at Old Goa. Even Adv Palekar has begun a fast unto death. But the government is not at all moved and till date has failed to take any action against the illegal structure.

It will be a big mockery and an insult to the women who are on hunger strike if the front row seats are reserved for ministers and MLAs who themselves have granted permission for the illegal structure.

It’s time to make it loud and clear to these politicians that Goans cannot be taken for granted.
