The postal authorities don't care for the needs of customers. The complement of three staff is now reduced to two. A post office with over Rs80 plus crores in deposits cannot efficiently service the customers without inordinate delays forced to stand in sun and rain. After protests and intervention by local organisations and elected representatives over ten years, the second clerk was sanctioned with great fanfare. It is disgusting and disappointing that as before he is like a spare wheel, sent everywhere on deputation as a substitute for those on leave. A single, harassed postmaster is doubling up as jack of all trades.
If the authorities cannot sanction a permanent staff here then close the facilities as an unviable unit. The much needed Aadhar facility is lying dormant for lack of personnel. Why go on adding more facilities in post offices, when basic needs are not satisfactorily attended to? Are no candidates in Goa available to fill the vacancy of postman here who is an engineering graduate from another state? It sounds strange.
