The government of Goa habitually boasts of getting awards at National level as the number one state in implementation of so many programmes for the welfare of the state and its citizens. I will mention only a couple, the first one that Goa being the first state to be free from open defecation. Yesterday while travelling by bus I saw one tourist vehicle parked on main road at Amona and occupants coming out of bushes with empty water bottles in their hands. In the second instance, the government boasts of Goa being the first state to implement AI traffic signal and systems and many citizens have ended up getting challans of huge amounts when some have not even ventured out with their vehicles. Having said that I wonder if Goa University took a cue from the government and wanted to become the first university in India to have underwear parade at a programme organised at its campus to improve its ranking. Is this the reason the Vice Chancellor is hell bent on bringing faculty from other states by circumventing the domicile clause requirement which for him is the reason for the downslide of the university’s ranking.
