Trump an unlikely Peace Nobel laureate

Donald Trump is widely regarded as an unlikely candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, which recognises sustained contributions to peace, conflict resolution, and international cooperation.

While his administration brokered initiatives such as the Abraham Accords, his broader record is marked by deep polarization, withdrawal from multilateral agreements, confrontational rhetoric, and actions that escalated rather than reduced several global tensions.

Alfred Nobel’s vision of peace was not episodic or transactional; it demanded consistency, moral leadership, and respect for democratic norms. Trump’s “America First” approach often strained alliances and weakened international institutions that traditionally support global stability.

Once awarded, a Nobel Prize cannot be revoked, cancelled, or erased. The Nobel Foundation’s statutes make all decisions final and irrevocable, regardless of a laureate’s later conduct.

The Nobel Prize is permanent”whether honoured or controversial”and critics argue that Trump’s record does not clearly demonstrate a genuine, sustained pursuit of mutually beneficial peace.
