While one would expect the chances of employment increasing with higher education, it is learnt that in India the level of educated unemployment increases with higher education. One of the reasons for higher unemployment among the educated is that the educated are not willing to join in low-grade informal jobs, but at the same time, sufficient regular salaried jobs are also not available for them. According to reports despite its prestigious status, IIT Bombay encountered a setback as 36% of its recent graduates were unable to secure placement. IIT Bombay denied these reports. The vast majority of IIT graduates are successful in securing jobs or pursuing further education. Be that as it may, it is widely acknowledged that the current job market is experiencing significant challenges. Curriculum review in universities is an important strategy for enhancing students' employability. The Indian economy has not been able to create enough remunerative jobs for the educated youth which is reflected in the high and increasing unemployment rate. It is essential to have a balance of education and experience. Educated unemployment mostly prevails in urban areas because of the vast expansion of educational facilities in those areas.
