Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The new star on India’s cricket horizon

From Bihar state, a shy schoolboy Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in dreamland at just 14, having become the youngest player in Indian Premier League history and marking the occasion with an audacious first-ball six. The fearless young left-hander is being touted as a superstar in the making after his instant impact opening the batting for Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, when he scored 34 off 20 balls in Jaipur, including three sixes and two fours.

Suryavanshi had shown glimpses of his ability with a first-ball six on his IPL debut earlier this month, and on Monday, his explosive talent was on full display as he tore apart Gujarat Titans with a 38-ball 101 in the Royals’ eight-wicket win.

An explosive free-scoring batsman, who can also bowl spin, Suryavanshi comes from India's poorest state, Bihar, and his father is a farmer and part-time journalist, according to Indian media. Many congratulations to his mother and father and the selectors.

The teenager's rise has been swift. Every Indian shall be hopeful to welcome Master Suryavanshi into the Indian Cricket Team at the dashing young age to play international cricket and achieve world records.**

However, Ravi Shastri has lauded the emergence of promising young batsmen in the IPL. He specifically mentioned Ayush Mhatre, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, and Prabhsimran Singh. Shastri highlighted their fearless approach and potential for international cricket. He advised caution regarding Suryavanshi, anticipating increased challenges for the young player. Shastri urged selectors to capitalise on current form when choosing players. Finally, playing natural cricket with one's own talent matters. Own self-art is a gift of God. God means Generator, Operator, and "Donor." So opportunities should be given to natural and talented art by the government.
