Welcome the new panchas of Chinchinim Deussua Panchayat. The voters need to be congratulated for bringing in many new faces rejecting selfish aspirants. Few lady members make a good mix to balance the situation. Money power and influence of politicians saw diminishing returns. The winners are social crusaders having shown their passion and commitment to social welfare before entering panchayat. They have shown that one need not occupy position to do good and avoid evil. They start with a clean slate without the stigma of corruption. They are there for what they can give and not what they can get. They are not masters of art of corruption. It is the reason voters have given confidence and shown trust. They are capable of dissecting truth from falsehood. They will not have to slavishly depend upon the secretary to understand and take decisions. A new person must head the body and ladies given representations as last term lady was sarpanch by law. No compromise to share power by rotation. The best among them be chosen by consensus and not by any manipulations of remote control. Fortunately the major change in ushering new capable faces reflects maturity of voters. The panchayat is not an avenue to seek job opportunities for unemployed but utilise their energies to develop by strictly monitoring corrupt practices. Hope the panchayat becomes people-oriented and resources are used for betterment of the village.
