A whopping 26 per cent of all candidates in the fray have been accused of being law-breakers after having criminal cases against them.
To make matters worse, the number of candidates with serious criminal charges has increased sharply over the last four assembly elections, according to Association for Democratic Reforms which released its report.
The question that comes to mind is how can highly educated people like doctors, engineers, educationists, lawyers digest the fact that we will have to vote for such criminals and law breakers?
Voting for such people will it not be accepting their criminal acts and there by promoting crime?
The ADR report also paints a gloomy picture on the educational background of the candidates. 29 of these candidates have not even cleared their 5th Std and some are not even 10th pass.
Some of us being graduates and post-graduates and yet unemployed will blindly walk into the polling booth and vote for such uneducated candidates just because of the party or the candidate.
Yes, the clock is ticking and just a few days are left for us to enter the polling booth. We need to keep in mind that we deserve to respect our Goa and vote for educated candidates who will bring about a change in the next five years.
Our conscience should not permit us to vote for candidates with criminal antecedents. Don’t vote for the candidates who have sold Goa and have not given jobs to the deserving youth. It’s time to say not to defectors, turncoats
