It has been reported that Sonia Gandhi, on the advice of her doctors has shifted to Goa in view of her respiratory health problem which is being aggravated by the high levels of pollution in Delhi and the capital region.
Thanks to better quality of life and better living conditions, environmental social and cultural in Goa, everybody across the country loves Goa.
The tragedy is that the government instead of doing everything possible to protect all that is precious to Goans is hell bent on pressing ahead with destructive projects that are not in the interests of the Goan people.
Instead of paying heed to the concerns of Goan populace, the govt is hell bent on supporting a handful of big business names with deep pockets who have plans to convert Goa into a coal hub.
With this in mind, the railway tracks are being doubled, the highways widened and all sorts of dubious power projects being run through the Western Ghats areas leading to widespread cutting of thousands of trees and endangering the flora and fauna of the region.
What cannot be understood is why the government would want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
What is even more perplexing and surprising is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 15th G20 summit called for a new global index for the post Coronavirus which would incorporate a strong emphasis on respecting nature with the spirit of trusteeship of Mother earth.
On this very day, persons who have not spent more than a few days in Goa, who probably have very little knowledge of Goa's endangered magnificent environment, climate, heritage, architecture and social fabric were issuing certificates endorsing the destructive policies and projects.
