The recent attacks on the Christian community in many parts of BJP-ruled States show how intolerance is rising with the backing of the State, with politicians and the police turning a blind eye. Such incidents showcase the real Indian future under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been the most travelled Prime Minister of India and is trying to woo many business giants to India under the concept of Make in India.
The hidden agenda of the political party is to declare India a Hindu Rashtra, which will happen sooner or later. While Christianity came to India in 52 AD, generations of Indian forefathers embraced Christian teachings, followed by missionaries who brought in education and culture, which became a hope to many who felt downcast or were treated as low-caste people due to the prevailing caste system in India and embraced Christianity.
Now we have Hindu group organisations freely moving around, creating a terror-like attack on religion. Till date, the Christian minority is only 2% of the population in the country, but these groups are still fearful because the teachings in the Holy Bible practised by Christians make them more patriotic than the present generation, which reels under corruption and barbarism-type acts against fellow citizens.
Goans are blessed to have the dynamics of communal harmony between all religions, but as long as the State government allows such attacks, Goa will soon turn into a State of religious unrest. We need to unite and raise our voices against politicians who speak against and support such groups and people who spread the venom of disharmony among the people.
