The ruling party spearheaded by the PM wanted a debate in Parliament when there are so many important governance and law and order vital matters pending to discuss. This issue was settled long ago with Vande Mataram being given equal status with Jana Gana Mana. I heard the debate in Lok Sabha spearheaded by the PM and in Rajya Sabha by the Home Minister. It seemed to me a new narrative being created by the BJP probably due to the impending Bengal elections and blaming Nehru for everything. The majority BJP has been given a long rope and are now the law, leading a new narrative with no transparency and accountability like in Goa. The Opposition remains hopelessly divided. The worst man-made disaster was recent Arpora nightclub inferno where 25 were killed, constructed in orchard zone, no TCP approval, illegal electricity, water connection, violating every labour and safety laws. What is more the Panchayat ordered its demolition but was stayed by the higher authorities.
