There’s a reason Georgia Louise is called the “face scientist.” The British-born, New York City facialist grew up in kitchens that her family transformed into makeshift beauty laboratories.
“I remember making bath oils and salts with my grandmother using pressed rose petals from her garden, and my mother making hair masks out of eggs and oils from the kitchen, so I guess formulating and concocting delicious skin recipes at home is in my genes. Before I found my manufacturing lab for my skincare line, I spent three years whipping up face creams and blending floral waters to sell to my clients in my London home. I have to say I miss being a mad scientist at night”my husband was subject to test tubes, double boilers, and all sorts of lotions and potions stashed in our kitchen drawers. My kitchen smelled like a perfume store in the best way. Though these days my process is a little more cutting edge, I still rely on this old-school rose bath salt recipe I used to make with my grandma”it completely revives and moisturizes dry, tired skin, and it’s the perfect way to relax after a long day,” she says.
All you need is 2 cups of Epsom salts, petals from two roses and 7 drops of vanilla fragrance oil
Method
Whip all the ingredients together in a food processor”the salt will stay intact and will work wonders at exfoliating your skin when you later dunk it in the bath. It just takes a few seconds for the ingredients to blend together. The formula will vary in color depending on the rose petals you select, but that’s what makes it feel special every time you make it. Scoop up the fresh formula into your bath and it’ll soothe your skin”and mind”like nothing else.
