A tribute to the great king

Paying a tribute to the great king Shivaji in Bicholim town, a 15 foot tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj riding the horse was installed recently at Shri Shantadurga high school, Bicholim. 

The statue costing Rs. 7 lakhs has been made at Pune with the efforts of  deputy chairperson Gurudatt Pal and others will serve to remind the villagers about cultural heritage during Shivajis rule. Professor Anil Samant, who was the chief orator on the occasion, said “the work of Shivaji was astonishing as far as running a Maratha Kingdom is concerned. “It a fortune that we are the heirs of king of millions.” Added Samant. He also stressed the need to teach real history to the students as far as works of Shivaji is concerned.
