It was a splendid performance, Friday night, as the Institute Menezes Hall resonated with the deep sounds of the Ultra Bass Sound (UBS) ensemble. The All Brass Concert which was first started last year celebrates the birthday of John Humphries, a world authority on French Horn and was also dedicated to Andrew Norman, a Britisher who continously helps out with valuable advice. The evening saw the ensemble performing alongside the brass students of Grass Central Music Studio and featured a few original compositions by Rui Lobo. Musician Selvyn Braganza also gave a debut performance of a composition. The rest of the programme was a mix of a variety of styles ranging from Renaissance, through Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern and Pop “ apart from Marches and Fanfares.
