Sharod Shubhechha! Mustard in Sangolda is screening three critically acclaimed films that have defined Bengali cinema in recent times at a three-day Bengali Film Festival being held in their premises.

October 9, 7.30pm

, released in 2000, by Rituparno Ghosh is about a cultured Bengali family, different members of which have gathered in native house on the occasion of Durga puja. It is a festival time and all the children are at the main house to celebrate it. Like any large family, every member of the family has his own personal past, skeletons and demons to confront.

October 10, 7.30pm

by Aparna Sen, released in 2010, revolves around a young Bengali village school teacher (Rahul Bose) marrying his Japanese pen friend (Chigusa Takaku) over letters and remaining true and loyal to her throughout his life, while actually never meeting her.

October 11, 7.30pm

is a 2006 Bengali-language Indian film starring Raima Sen, Shayan Munshi and Parambrata Chatterjee and directed by Anjan Dutt. The movie is based on the lives of Bengalis in the U.S.and Kolkata.
