Captured by : Socorro Festival
The Ponsachem Fest (jackfruit festival) at Socorro went off well, with revellers joining in to celebrate the beautiful fruit, which can be turned into a variety of products. There was also a copel making workshop, given that the festival was held on the day of Sao Joao.
Apart from celebrating the jackfruit, the festival, which was all about the traditional culture of Goa, enabled people to go back to their roots. There were workshops on the jackfruit, how to treat it, on the environment and more. The festival was organised by the Socorro Socio-Art and Cultural Festival, which has always aimed to create festivals that are self-sustaining, environmentally friendly and devoid of alcohol, thereby creating a old-school and traditional atmosphere.
