It is better tolight a candle than to curse the darkness. We often cry hoarse that politicians have looted and plundered us. But what have we done to stop them from looting and plundering our resources?
Abraham Lincoln’s famous quote comes to our mind. ‘Ask not what the nation has done for us but ask what you have done for the nation.’
With the world today becoming a global city and with the social media being the way of life we often find posts of nagativity concerning one politician or the other. but than, have we been vigilante as a true citizen to see that our politicians dont take us for a ride and prevent them from doing wrongs and injustice to the citizens? Alexinho de Morjim asks these and other pertinent questions as he unfolds his latest tiatr to the audience.

But then, have we ever been vigilante as a true citizen to see that our politicians don’t take us for a ride and prevent them from doing wrong? Alexinho de Morjim asks these and other pertinent questions as he unfolds his latest tiatr to the audience.
Script: The script is slow paced but has an interesting mode at the end of each pordo. The cantos composed are melodious. Comedy characters are part of the tiatr plot. Simplicity of the script is highlighted but then inappropriate dialogues and tenor ruin the otherwise good script. For example when a peon speaks infront of the Collector, he will never raise his voice, but in the tiatr the collector is made to listen to the peon’s ‘xapotam’. The sequences of development keep the tiatr going on at an interesting level.
Comedy : The comedy is related to the main story and through the comedy the storyline is taken forward. Comedian Alexinho de Morjim and comedian Lorna, the husband wife combine give a decent portrayal of a comedy role and they succeed to send the audience in a trans of laughter. The comedy is decent. Afterall a decent person too can evoke laughter suitable to their character.
Sets : The main box set of the house of the collector is good but then the other scenes are depicted on the blue curtain which causes irritation to the viewer. the furniture of the lead set was pathetic.Being a tiatr that stood second for the A group tiatr competition, this was the least expected.
Acting :The tiatr features great acting. Offie D’Souza carries the tiatr on her shoulders portraying the role of the collector. Cyrilo de Morjim cast as the father of the collector is solid as a rock and gives a display why he has been the recipient of so many best actor awards. For a change comedian Reza is seen in a dashing role of the Inspector which she carries with ease. While the commercial tiatr artistes were surprisingly soft in their tone the non commercial artistes were surprisingly loud mouthed. They should be given a class or two in dialogue delivery. Aires de Arambol and Frazer Fernandes in particular should learn to speak normally without shouting at every given opportunity. Connie Pereira as the politician was too showy. No politician will go around displaying all the gold in his neck; Even our flambuoyant politician Micky Pacheco was not seen with so much of gold which also was not demanded in the script.
Music/songs: Vitorino Araujo led band with our popular ‘Paklo’ on the drums dished out good band music. The songs were great. The opening chorus was a solo sung in style by Peter de Arambol. Other solos by Evaristo de Arambol, Roque Dias were interesting. The duo by Peter and Evaristo, Frenwin and Jonas, a trio by Evaristo Frazer and Connie, a quartet by Alexinho, Connie, Aires and Frazer, duet by Bushan and Lajja were interesting to the ear. Frenwin renders two songs. The song on politics was rendered earlier in the tiatr Good Bye Papa of Irineu Gonsalves and so was a repetition. the lyrics of both his solo songs were objectionable. As a child he should sing on topics that relate to his age and not one cursing Parrikar and other sick politicians which was in bad taste. The composers should take care in composing songs pertinent the age of the singer.
Direction:Being a tiatr that bagged the second place at the A group Tiatr competition, one expected a high standard of presentation. But that was not the case. There were no justifiable moves on stage. Besides Cyrilo no other artiste moved as per the motivation in the dialogues. The background music was non-existent. Lights were more of commercial tiatr rather than competition focus of areas. Nevertheless a good presentation worth promoting in the villages.
