The Goan fashion industry has been setting a benchmark with many local creative designers making their style statement known to the world. Not just that. Goa has also been coming up as a fashion hub with some prestigious fashion shows organised here during recent times. And so to bring the local talent in the industry on a common platform and better prepare them in the nuances of the fashion industry, three creative icons “ fashion designer Monty Sally, fashion photographer Prasad Pankar and fashion photographer Syed Nasserudeen along with the support of his wife Rahila Khan, fashion and garment industry, have come together to launch an event company “ Fashion Triad International.
“From what we have seen, during most of the shows in Goa, the models for these shows are brought in from outside the state. Goa being a small market, through this event company, we would like to prepare Goan boys and girls upto international standards and have better level of shows in Goa,” says Monty.
“With Goan models, more than grooming, they just need a little bit of confidence to face the competition from other sections of the industry at the national as well as international level,” adds Rahila.
The event company is gearing up for their first major event called the Stellar Show which will be held in October this year at Bay 15. The applications for the same will be invited from May 15 onwards. The most important part of this show is the three months training that the applicants will undergo to prepare for the show which is a first of its kind in the country. This is in contrary to the other shows where the participants get just a day or two to prepare themselves for the show. During this course, these models would be trained by professionals from other associated fields where the aspirants get to understand the finer nitty-gritties of the industry and also face any challenges in future. The training sessions will not only involve modeling but other various other aspects of fashion industry including fashion photography, make up, stylists etc. This will also provide an opportunity for the entrants to specialise in whichever aspect they choose to pursue in future. Prasad will be looking into the choreography and finer aspects of fashion photography etc whereas Monty will enlighten students more on the designing part of it. Syed who has been trained by Prasad in fashion photography will also handle the logistics part of the events.
Monty believes that while in other metropolitan cities like Bangalore, the fashion market is more myopic with just a certain kind of designs or pattern are followed, Goa has a fusion of the West and Indian trends which needs to be brought to the fore. “ And we have the talent in the state,” he says. “It is this talent that Fashion Triad International would like to tap and help them create a niche in this industry. The company at the moment is carrying out the branding part of it through their social media platforms. Right now, the founders would like to concentrate on the aspirants only from Goa and then spread their wings on platforms elsewhere.”
